Your Name!

Dear CALEB,

We are so excited to finally have a name for you!  We've been talking about baby names before you even existed, but we never thought it would be so hard to pick one for you.  We finally were able to pick a name we think you'll be proud of, we hope you like it!  You will be called Caleb Andrew Ashorn!

Andrew is your Daddy's middle name too, and together you'll both have the same initials.  I love the name Andrew and your patron saint, Saint Andrew, has a feast day just a couple of days before your due date.  Maybe you'll surprise us a little bit early on November 30 to celebrate!

The name Caleb caught us by surprise.  We didn't know we'd choose it from the beginning, but it began to grow on us and eventually we knew it was the name for you!  We told Grandma and Grandpa as well as Gigi and Pops tonight and they are equally excited to be able to call you by name.

We love you and can't wait to see you in December (or maybe even November)!

Love,
Mommy

Camo or Pearls - Your Reveal Party!

Dear Baby,

It sure is hard keeping a secret!

We wanted to share your news that you're a boy with all of our friends and family!  We knew if you would be a little girl you could wear pearls like me, or if you were a boy you would be dressed in camo like Dad!   Although, as Uncle Thomas said, "boy or girl, the baby will still be wearing camo!"

Look at all of the fun everyone had waiting for your news!  Everyone took their guess but not everyone was right!  We can't wait to start getting ready for your arrival.

It's a BOY!!!!

Oh BOY!

Dear Baby BOY -

I'm not surprised at all that you'll greet us in December as a beautiful baby boy.  From the minute I knew you were growing, I had a feeling you would be a little man, and from then on I always thought of you as a boy.  Daddy wasn't so sure, but I know he was secretly hoping for you to be a boy.

As soon as we started our ultrasound you were very cooperative! Right away we could see you were a baby boy and we were so thrilled!  You went on to show us all of your fingers and toes, and stretched and moved and wiggled around while the technician tried to zoom in on all of your important features like your brain, heart and organs.  You were so adorable to watch open your mouth and chew on your hand and then even wave at us.  But the best part was when you gave us a sign that you weren't only a boy but an AGGIE.  You gave us a "thumbs up" in the middle of the ultrasound that sent smiles across our faces.  You were a bit stubborn at the end and you must have been exhausted from putting on a show because you laid on your stomach and wouldn't move!  The poor technician tried to get you to turn around so she could look at your heart, but you weren't interested.  Hopefully you'll be more obedient for your parents in the future. :)

With a strong heartbeat of 146, Daddy and I could rest easy that you were a healthy baby.  All of my tests from the month before came back normal and your measurements have you exactly where you should be!

We smiled the whole way home knowing our new secret.  We can't wait to tell Grandma and Grandpa, Gigi and Pops, and all of your friends and family that you're a little boy!

Daddy is ready to buy you a fishing pole, hunting bow, and a gun.  I have a feeling that you two are going to be VERY good friends.

Love,
Mommy

Nursery, Sweet Nursery

Dear Baby -

We are so excited to get to see your sweet face on Tuesday - so excited that Daddy decided to put up your crib!   It's the first piece of furniture that we have in your new home, but it's so exciting to dream what your room will look like.  The crib may look big for a tiny baby, but we can't wait to see you grow in your new room!

All done with the help of Kent!
